Detailed Product Description

General characteristics:
A high-temperature nickel alloy, Hastelloy N withstands aging and embrittlement. It resists oxidation for continuous service up to 1800°F (982°C) and for intermittent service up to 1900°F (1038°C).Able to be readily fabricated, it’s ideal for high-heat applications and equipment used with hot fluoride salts.

Applications:

  • Extreme heat uses
  • Equipment used with hot fluoride salts

Machineability:
Low cutting speeds
Use sintered carbide cutting tools and grind to 10-15 degree side rake angle and 6-7 degree side clearance for facing or turning operations
Use short drill and grind with minimum clearance to clear the work – generally about 140 degrees total – when drilling
Use sulfur-based oil coolant when drilling, or when turning, facing or boring at higher speeds
Workability:
Readily forged  between 1600°F (871°C) and 2150°F (1177°C)
